In Memoriam

Janice Marie Harvin, retired Director of the Research Medical Library, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, died at the age of 76 on November 18, 2000, in Houston Texas.

Marie was director of the M.D. Anderson library from 1966 to 1984. Prior to joining M.D. Anderson, Marie served at the National Library of Medicine from 1957 to 1960, and as Chief Librarian at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock from 1960 to 1966.

Marie was very instrumental in the formation of the Cancer Librarians Section of MLA, as well as the South Central Chapter of MLA, serving as its first president in 1973.
